The West Coast Branch of the Florida Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers desires to assist students with the increasing costs associated with the college education required of today’s civil engineers. ASCE West Coast Branch expects to award two recipients for $1,000 each in 2019 for this purpose. Only one award will be made to an applicant in any single year.
The awards will be presented at the joint USF Student Chapter-West Coast Branch meeting held each year. Applications for the awards will be available to the students when the fall semester begins. The applicant must be a full time student. Applicant may be a co-op student.
Applications must be completed and submitted online at http://www.asce-wcb.org/scholarships no later than March 20, 2019 5:00 P.M. The supporting documents, letters of recommendation and official transcript(s), must be received by the Student Chapter Practitioner Advisor, Mr. Sam Chiu, P.E., no later than March 20, 2019 5:00 P.M.

The selection committee shall consist of the following: the current ASCE President and Past President of the West Coast Branch, the USF Practitioner Advisor(s), the USF ASCE Student Chapter Faculty Advisor and the Chairman of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of the University of South Florida.
The criteria for selection of the awards shall be based on several weighted parameters:

The application form shall be relatively non-structured to allow the applicants to have as much flexibility in describing their talents and needs. Official transcripts and a minimum of three (3) letters of recommendation from faculty members, employers or practicing engineers shall be required as part of the application. A letter of recommendation from any member of the selection committee will not be accepted.
